The Portfolio post type in the Porto theme allows you to display your creative work, client projects, or visual case studies in a professional and engaging format. Porto’s built-in Portfolio functionality comes with a variety of customization options and layout settings designed to showcase your projects beautifully.
Note: You can enable or disable Porto’s built-in Portfolio type directly from the theme options
- Go to Porto → Theme Options in your WordPress dashboard.
- You’ll find dedicated sections for Porto → Theme Options → Portfolio
- Toggle the Portfolio Content Type option.
- Click Save Changes.
1. Name & Slug
Define the title of your portfolio item and its slug (URL).
- Name: The main title displayed on your portfolio listing and single portfolio page.
- Slug: The unique part of the URL used to access this specific portfolio entry.
2. Portfolio Categories
Assign your portfolio item to one or multiple Portfolio Categories. These categories help organize your projects and can be used for filtering or grouping items on portfolio archive pages.
3. Portfolio Skills
Add specific skills or technologies related to the project (e.g., Photography, Branding, Web Design). These serve as secondary taxonomies to describe your portfolio items more precisely.
4. Featured Image
Upload a featured image that represents your project visually. This image will appear in portfolio listings, sliders, and portfolio grids across your site.
5. Content Area
Use the standard WordPress content editor to add a detailed project description, including text, images, videos, and shortcodes. This area supports Elementor and Gutenberg blocks for flexible content design.
6. Portfolio Options
A dedicated section in Porto that allows advanced customization of how your portfolio item is displayed.
- Change Featured Image: Replace the main image for this project.
- Slideshow Type: Select how multiple images should be displayed (e.g., slider, carousel, grid).
- Slider Type: Choose the design or animation style for the slideshow.
- Slider Thumbs Count: Define the number of thumbnail previews displayed below or beside the slider.
- More Information: Add additional text or details about the project.
- Portfolio Links: Insert links related to the project (e.g., live project demo, case study PDF).
- Location: Indicate the project’s location (useful for events, photography, or real estate portfolios).
- Client Name: Specify the name of the client for whom the project was created.
- Client URL (Link): Add a clickable link to the client’s website.
- Author Quote: Include a testimonial or quote from the project’s author or client.
- Author Name: Enter the name of the person providing the quote.
- Author Image: Upload an image of the author or client.
- Author Role: Define their position or role (e.g., CEO, Art Director).
- Like Count Options: Enable or disable the “like” button for this portfolio item.
7. Excerpt
Add a short summary of the project. This excerpt may be used on portfolio listing pages or search results.
8. Discussion
Enable or disable comments on this portfolio post.
9. Comments
View and manage comments related to this specific portfolio item.
10. Porto View Options
Choose the layout and display settings for this portfolio post. You can customize sidebar visibility, container width, and other visual options for optimal presentation.
11. Porto AI Engine
Use Porto’s AI Engine to automatically generate content, summaries, or SEO descriptions for your portfolio projects using intelligent content suggestions.
12. Publish
Manage the visibility, status, and publishing date of your portfolio post. You can publish immediately, schedule for a future date, or save as a draft.
