I have to use the Gutenberg builder to be able to have a single post type that has a dynamic featured image in a cover block. WP Bakery does not allow the use of a dynamic featured image as a row background, and I need to have a post template where the featured image spans the full width of the row background – not an element of the row, but the background of the row.
Anyway – I had this set up in Gutenberg, and it’s all fine… except I cannot now use the Related Posts element to show post suggestions based on the category of the post. It doesn’t seem to exist as an option in Gutenberg editor, only in WP Bakery editor.
Am I missing something? I want a block at the end of my single post template, in Gutenberg, that enables me to suggest 3 related posts with the same category (and obviously not including the current post). This has to be dynamic so it will apply to the template, for any post.
Help? Thank you!! This is pretty urgent!!
May 8, 2023 at 10:58 pm #1055Never mind! I converted my WP Bakery template to classic editor, grabbed the Porto shortcode for the element, and plugged that back into Gutenberg via a Shortcode block. All good.
But it would really be nice if you could enable everything for every builder. I have templates I’ve had to do in multiple builders because some functionality isn’t available in one or the other, and it’s kind of annoying.
May 9, 2023 at 8:45 am #1059Hello, @sarah-5068,
Glad to hear that you were able to find a workaround for your issue. However, I understand your frustration with having to use multiple builders to achieve certain functionalities.
Unfortunately, the availability of features may vary between different page builders, and it’s not always possible to enable everything for every builder.
Nonetheless, I will pass on your feedback to our development team for future consideration.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Kind Regards,
PThemes Team.May 9, 2023 at 12:01 pm #1061I understand. I did have one other question, though. Gutenberg is supposed to have a standard Related Posts block, but it doesn’t show up on your theme. Any idea why?

May 11, 2023 at 7:06 pm #1097Hello, @sarah-5068,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to inform you that we have identified an issue with the related post widget in the Gutenberg Builder not being available with the PORTO WordPress theme.
Unfortunately, the PORTO theme does not include this default-related post widget in the Gutenberg Builder. However, there are alternative options that we can explore in order to achieve similar functionality.
You can read this article from WordPress: https://wordpress.com/support/related-posts/
You can either look for a third-party plugin that provides a related post widget for the Gutenberg Builder or you can explore custom development options to add this functionality to the theme.
Please let me know which option you would prefer to proceed with, and I will be happy to provide you with further details and recommendations.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards,
PThemes Team. -
