Omnisend vs. Klaviyo: Which One Is Better for Marketers Who Want an Easy Setup?
Marketers are surrounded by tools every step they take. Some of them require extensive learning resources, so it’s important to understand which tools justify the learning curve, and which are unnecessarily complex.
Email marketing platforms are one of those tools that are often best when made convenient. In some niche cases complexity can add extra benefit, but for most modern online businesses there’s no need to reinvent the wheel.
Omnisend and Klaviyo are two of the most popular ESP brands in the market, and we’re here to simplify the choice for you by explaining which platform excels at convenience and simplicity while still maintaining similar levels of power.
Drag-and-drop builders
An essential feature for simple campaign building is the drag-and-drop builder. It eliminates the complexity associated with creating email designs and allows you to choose from several different blocks and layouts to intuitively build your campaign.
Both Omnisend and Klaviyo have similar drag-and-drop capabilities, the only main difference to outline is how the product picker blocks work.
Omnisend’s product picker block provides arguably the most effective way to add an item to your email. You drag the block, find a product from your store using the sidebar settings, and it adds the product name, image, description, price, and purchase link.
Additionally, there’s an option to add a dynamic product listing where you can choose between three options: your best-selling products, recently added products, and most-viewed products. In this case, you won’t see the items right in your email builder, but those products will appear to the recipients once the campaign goes live.
Klaviyo also provides you with measures to add product listings to your email, but the process is more complicated. You need to configure a product feed where you can choose what category or collection of products you want to show. Then, you can filter by more settings like price and stock status. But there’s no option to search out your online store via the email builder interface like with Omnisend.
Also, in the same product feed setting interface, there’s an option to choose between dynamic feed options like best-selling products, most viewed products, new products, or even AI-enhanced options like products a customer may also like.
It’s a nice option to have, but we advise to use AI-driven features when it comes to product recommendations with caution. They may falsely suggest completely irrelevant items, which, instead of improving personalization, may completely ruin it.
Pre-built campaign and automation templates
Templates can save you a lot of time, especially when you’re in a rush. You don’t need to prepare design assets or think about what style should the newsletter follow. Instead, you can use the elements in the template and customize the copy or placing to your preferences.
Both Klaviyo and Omnisend offer large selections of different templates. For newsletter campaigns, you can choose between different holiday-themed templates to other, more general-purpose, designs. If neither suits your style, you can create your own design and save it as a private template.
Automation templates are also abundant, and you can choose between welcome series, post-purchase flows, abandoned cart reminders, stock-replenished workflows, and more. If you don’t want generic flows, you can use a template as a base and build further upon it.
All in all, there’s no stark contrast between the two platforms in terms of templates. There is, however, a difference in monthly price. Omnisend’s plans start at $16/month, whereas Klaviyo’s – $20/month. So, if templates are important to you, Omnisend is the more affordable option while still offering the same power.
Customer support availability
Customer support is especially useful for marketers that don’t want to invest too much time learning the platform. If an issue arises, they need to be able to always count on support to fix it. Reading through help centers may be too time-consuming for a problem that could likely be fixed by support in minutes.
Omnisend’s award-winning customer support is available to everyone, regardless of free or paid plans, and it comes with 24/7 live chat and email support. If you’re stuck, you can tap the widget in the corner to get human help nearly immediately. They will ask for your store ID, and if they can, they’ll fix the problem themselves, or escalate the issue to their tech team, who will inform you about the status via email.
Klaviyo’s support works differently. If you’re a free user, you only get access to email support for the first 60 days. After that, you can only rely on help center articles or YouTube videos to get help. Once you upgrade to a paid plan, email support access is renewed and you also get live chat support (not available on weekends). Email response times vary based on your plan tier, and for weekend support you need to purchase a separate add-on subscription.
When it comes to customer support, Omnisend is the winner through and through. Its support capabilities are incomparably better than Klaviyo’s, and you don’t need to pay a dime to get it. It’s one of the things that make Omnisend a great option for any business, regardless of its size.
Technical migration support
Migration is likely one of the least favorite processes for marketers and business owners alike. There’s a risk of losing contacts, and the thought of rebuilding every segment and automation from scratch is tiring to say the least.
Omnisend addresses these issues head on, and provides a unique migration solution that transfers your contacts, automations, segments, templates, and more, completely free of charge. You do, however, need to be on the upper side of $250/month upon signing up to Omnisend to quality for the free migration service.
If you have thousands of contacts, and email is one of your main revenue-driving channels, then you’ll likely be spending more money either way, so you can consider the service to be truly free. The migration is handled by Omnisend’s in-house specialist, and the process only takes up to 5 business days.
Klaviyo, on the other hand, provides standard migration services. You can choose between paying them to do it or asking for documentation that explains how to do it yourself. They may also refer you to their network of agency partners, but that also comes at a cost.
If you have a large subscriber list and want hands-off migration support without spending money, Omnisend is your best choice. You won’t accidentally lose any contacts, and you won’t have to spend hours recreating automations, segments, templates, and more.
Omnisend vs. Klaviyo: Verdict
To sum up, both platforms are great for your email marketing needs, but when it comes to ease of use and simplicity, Klaviyo takes the second place. Omnisend is rather unique for providing power without feeling clunky. Everything seems intuitive and easy to navigate. Klaviyo, on the other hand, is more technical, but provides more depth to those who need it.
Omnisend appears to have grasped the industry enough to be able to fulfill the needs of most businesses, regardless of size, and still make it intuitive and affordable. While Klaviyo surely has more depth in terms of automations, segmentation, and analytics, the features are almost always an overkill for most businesses who simply need standard-advanced features.
In short, if you prefer ease of use over technical overhead while maintaining strong features and high support accessibility, Omnisend is your more logical choice.
