Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Involved in a Lamborghini Crash
Some months back, Rashee Rice, the Kansas Chiefs’ wide receiver, was driving in a Lamborghini SUV at a speed of 119 mph just before he caused a multi-vehicle accident at Central Expressway. The incident resulted in severe injuries for at least four people. That is not only the case; it was reported that after the crash, Rice and his companions walked away from the scene.
Rice and his at-fault colleague, Theodore Knox, an SMU football player, are now facing serious lawsuits of aggravated assault. It was reported that one of the cars Rice and his partner used to cause the crash was registered or leased to him (Rice). An attorney of The Classic Lifestyle informed NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that the Lamborghini SUV belongs to a local Dallas-based company.
It was also stated that the vehicle can only be rented by Rice because their daily rental service is $1,750 and the car is worth $250,000.
How it Happened
The police reported that on the 30th of March, Rashee Rice was driving a Lamborghini SUV and his partner, a Corvette, were racing through Highway 75 in the United States near University Boulevard. In reference to the affidavit, it states that the drivers made multiple and aggressive maneuvers to beat traffic. Due to their action on the highway, they caused a chain of crashes involving four other cars, which was recorded by a witness’s dashcam.
Furthermore, the dash cam recorded how the at-fault parties got out of their cars and walked away. The Dallas Police stated that the drivers of the Corvette and Lamborghini ran from the scene without calling for medical assistance or checking if anyone was hurt. Furthermore, they reported that two of the crash victims were treated at the crash site, and the other two victims were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
Was Rashee Rice Arrested?
According to NBC News, the Dallas Police gave a warrant for the arrest of Rice in April. He was said to have been charged with aggravated assault, which involved severe bodily injuries and at least four counts of collision. Furthermore, it was discovered that Rice turned himself in for the arrest at Glenn Heights, a city near Dallas.
After the arrest was made, he was transported to DeSoto Regional Jail. However, according to the report by his attorney, Sen. Royce West, he was released on the same day he got arrested on bond.
Rice’s Reaction to the Lawsuit
Rice released an apology statement on his Instagram Story stating that he had a meeting with Dallas’ PD investigators concerning the crash. He further states that he takes “full responsibility” for the part he played, causing the crash and putting the lives of others at stake, and he promises to cooperate with the authorities involved.
Damages
Victims of the crash, Irina Gromova and Edvard Petrovskiy, filed a lawsuit in Dallas County District Court, demanding a minimum of $1 million for the damages Rice caused and $10 million for punitive damages. The trial is set for the 23rd of June, 2025.
Conclusion: What Happens to Rashee’s Career?
Although West, Rice’s lawyer, re-emphasized his cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and he further acknowledged his mistakes and felt sympathetic, it is still possible that he could get suspended. “While no announcement has been made about potential suspension, the legal issues Rice is facing may impact his emerging career, says attorney Daniel Libbey of Libbey Law Offices, LLC.
