I swear I saw somewhere the option to adjust the blog category filter on a post grid from inline to dropdown, but I cannot find it anywhere.

How would I go about changing how the category filter appears? This is for blog posts, the toggle “show category filter” on a Post Grid. We have a lot of categories, and the inline appearance takes up a lot of room. Is there any easy way to make this a dropdown instead?

        Thank you!

            Hello, @sarah-5068,

Could you please share the URL of the page and the screenshot of the blog category filter you are talking about and also your site WP Admin URL and Credentials as well under the private area of this topic, so that I will further look into it for you and help you out.

If you are talking about the Post Categories in the sidebar, you can change it as a dropdown from Appearance >> Widgets >> Blog Sidebar >> Categories, check Yes the “Display as dropdown” option from there, save changes, and check back to your site after clearing the browser cache, please refer to this screenshot: https://postimg.cc/PNwgzCs8

            Best Regards,
            PThemes Team.

I can’t share the login credentials as this is a live site. But here are screenshots.

Basically, when you toggle to allow a category filter in a Porto post grid element in WP Bakery, it displays categories in an inline horizontal list. It’s ajax – so when you click, the posts below will auto-filter without reloading the page.

However, we have a lot of categories, and it makes it wrap around in an awkwardly long inline horizontal list.

We would prefer a dropdown filter, but with ajax still, so the page does not reload or take me to a category archive page (which is what the standard wordpress category element will do).

I thought I had seen an option to select dropdown instead of inline for the Porto post grid, but I can’t find where that is. Does it exist? Can I use a post grid with a dropdown category ajax filter?

                Thanks.
