        Hi,

I have created a post-type in the templates builder to display categories in the shop pages (product archive). e.g. a top level category that has sub-categories will show all the subcategories only and not the products. This is set in the product category top level display type as ‘Subcategories’.

However, the options I have chosen do not display – such as image hover effects. I can see the div ajax loading is the correct ID (data-ajax_load_options) for the builder template. What I see is different, the image slightly zooms in (not the option I chose) and it appears to be using a different post type.

Am I using this incorrectly? If I choose the same post type on a test page, it loads as a ‘post mini type layout’ and I can select categories manually. It then displays correctly. But when I choose the post type in the shop product archive page it just says ‘Post layout’. I have checked the display conditions include the archive.

I’m not sure if this makes sense but can you tell me why I am not seeing this post type in the front end?

        Many thanks,

        Tim

Thanks for sharing the access with us here, I have checked your issue on your site. I have visited the shop page, and other different categories pages the layout that you created in the “FP-CATEGORIES” appears fine to me as you can see in these screenshots: https://postimg.cc/fSLRY8Zr and https://postimg.cc/cKBxjpLz

Please check back to your issue by clearing the browser cache.

Lastly, One more thing that I notice while debugging is that you are not using the latest version of the theme on your site: https://postimg.cc/94CVGLYY Please update the theme and its core plugin to the latest version by following this article: https://www.portotheme.com/wordpress/porto/documentation/update-theme/

                            Hi,

                            I’m a little confused.

Those screenshots are showing that the pages are NOT showing the options and styling as per the FP-CATEGORIES post type.

Ignore the category images that contain a blue bar built in. The post type should create this using CSS.

Please use the category example I posted.

                            Many thanks

One easy check is to hover over the image in the category page. It should not zoom.

I have changed the category images to avoid confusion.

Another option that should not be showing on the subcategory pages is the product count. This was removed from the post type FP-CATEGORIES. But as you can see, even in your screen shots, this is showing.

I have updated the porto theme.

                                    Many thanks

Not sure if this is related, but since a recent update, if I try to create a new Porto Post Type, I am no longer given the Porto Studio option.

I rolled back to elementor 3.19.x and some options came back. Some odd things going on.

                                                Hello, @ReJigged,

                                                Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I just edited the category layout from the template builder and simply removed the hover effect from the category image as you can see in this screenshot: https://postimg.cc/47mVJM1N For the products count there is no option in the builder you have to hide it using CSS code in the PORTO >> Theme Options >> Skins >> Custom CSS.

                                                .products .product-category .thumb-info-type{display:none !important;}

Regarding the PORTO Studio issue, the thing is, it might be because of third-party plugins. I can see that you are using tons of third-party plugins on the site please once try to disable all the third-party plugins from the site and then check back to your issue by clearing the browser cache. then try to activate the plugins one by one so that you will be able to know which plugins conflict and cause the issue on the site.

                                                Best Regards,
                                                PThemes Team.

                                                    Hi Aizaz,

Thanks for the reply and your efforts so far.

I think we are going in circles…!

You have removed the hover effect that I wish to use. The Post Type FP-CATEGORIES works as expected in it’s place on the home page of the site where it has been placed as an elementor block.

However, if you navigate to a shop page, you will see the subcategories laid out with a different hover effect and not using any of the styling associated with the post type in use on the SHOP archive template that uses post type FP-CATEGORIES.

For exmample, go here – /product-category/polythene-products/

You will see the subcategories laid out. But the grid is not using any styling selected in the post type FP-CATEGORIES. This is the crux of the problem. This page is created using the product archive SHOP in porto templates builder.

I have disabled all the plugins apart from Porto, Woo and Elementor. The studio option is still not working? This is a recent development as I was using this until a few days ago. Nothing has been updated on the server side.

                                                        Hello, @ReJigged,

Thank you for providing a thorough explanation of the issue, it really helps in understanding it better. I’ve replicated the same scenario on our test site and indeed encountered the same issue you’re experiencing on your site. It appears to be a bug within the theme, and we’re grateful to you for bringing it to our attention. I’ve escalated the bug report to our development team, who will address and resolve it in the next update of our theme. Your patience is appreciated while we work on this. Thank you for your understanding.
