The issue has been narrowed down to one of the most recent theme updates of Porto not being compatible with the plugin we use (Flyingpress) which is for speed optimization. We use the same plugin on our other sites and we haven’t had any issues. But with this site the issues resolves as soon as we deactivate the plugin.
I spoke with support from Flyingpress and gave them access to a staging site we created for this testing purpose. They narrowed down the issue to the theme and asked to roll back to the previous version which I did do on our live site temporarily, but it’s not resolving the issue.

Thanks for sharing the staging site access, I have debugged the issue on the site. The “FlyingPress” plugin caused the issue when I disabled it the issue was resolved as you already described.
Interestingly, this plugin focuses on speed optimization, but our theme already incorporates this feature by default.
Should you still require caching plugins, I recommend using “WP Super Cache” as we ensure compatibility with our theme. It’s worth noting that we haven’t officially tested the “FlyingPress” plugin with our theme nor is it included in our list of compatible plugins.
Lastly, to optimize I recommend you to check the theme’s default feature called “PORTO Speed Optimization” Below are some useful articles for you to understand better.
