How to use OpenAI for Content Creation

Starting from Porto version 6.8.0, a built-in AI Content Generator powered by OpenAI is available. This feature allows you to automatically create high-quality text for your website — such as product descriptions, meta tags, and excerpts — using the OpenAI API.

Before using this feature, you must first obtain your OpenAI API key and enter it in the Porto Theme Options panel.

The Porto AI Content Generator creates content based on a title or an alternative topic you provide. The system uses this input to produce relevant, SEO-friendly text such as product descriptions, outlines, or metadata.

If you specify an alternative topic, the AI will use that instead of the title when generating content. This is particularly useful for creating more detailed or targeted content.

• If the alternative topic is empty:
  → “Write the product description for Luxury Watches.”
• If the alternative topic is filled:
  → “Write the product description for Top 5 Famous Watches.”

Setting the alternative topic thoughtfully can greatly improve the quality and depth of the generated content.

Example for ‘About Us’ Page:

• Content: “About us of P-THEMES Inc, developer of Porto, Riode, and Wolmart WordPress themes.”
• Meta Data for SEO: “About P-THEMES Company.”

You can choose what kind of content to generate. Available types include:

• Description
• Excerpt
• Outline
• Meta Title
• Meta Description
• Meta Keywords

This setting allows you to select the tone of writing, such as professional, casual, or promotional, depending on your content needs.

You can further customize the AI’s behavior by adding an extra prompt.

Default prompts for each type:

• Content: “Write at least 5 paragraphs.”
• Excerpt: “Excerpt must be between 55 and 75 characters.”
• Meta Description: “Description must be between 105 and 140 characters.”
• Meta Title: “Title must be between 40 and 60 characters.”
• Meta Keywords: “Write at least 10 words.”

You can generate descriptions, excerpts, meta descriptions, outlines, meta titles, and meta keywords for all post types — including:

The Porto AI Generator is compatible with major SEO plugins, allowing you to generate optimized Meta Descriptions directly within:

There are two ways to generate a description:

1. Simple Generation
   • Set Generate Type to “Content”.
   • Optionally include an Alternative Topic and Additional Prompt to enhance output quality.
   • Click Generate to create the content instantly.
2. From an Outline
   1. First, create an outline using the generator.
   2. Optionally customize it with an Alternative Topic or Additional Prompt.
   3. Once the outline is ready, generate the full description based on that structure.
