Post

The Post type is the default content type provided by WordPress and fully supported by the Porto theme. It is ideal for creating and managing blog articles, news updates, and announcements. Porto enhances the standard WordPress post experience by adding additional layout and design options to help you create visually appealing, high-performing posts without needing custom code.

When editing a post in Dashboard → Posts, you will find the following key sections and settings:

1. Name & Slug
  • Name: The title of your post, displayed on the front end and in search results.
  • Slug: The URL-friendly version of your post title. It appears in the address bar (e.g., yourdomain.com/blog/your-post-name ).
You can customize the slug under the Permalink section to make it more readable and SEO-friendly.
2. Format

WordPress supports various post formats, such as:

  • Standard (default)
  • Image
  • Gallery
  • Video
  • Audio
  • Quote
  • Link

Porto supports all these formats and styles them consistently with the site’s blog design, giving you full flexibility in how your content is displayed.

3. Categories

Assign posts to one or more categories to organize related content.
Categories help structure your site and improve navigation and SEO. You can create new categories directly from the post editor.

4. Tags

Add tags to describe specific details or topics covered in the post.
Tags improve internal search and enhance user experience by connecting related posts.

5. Featured Image

The Featured Image represents your post visually. It is typically displayed:

  • At the top of the single post page,
  • In blog archive listings,
  • On social media when the post is shared.
Porto automatically adjusts featured image dimensions to fit your layout style.
6. Content Area

The content editor (Gutenberg or Classic Editor, depending on your setup) is where you write your post’s main body text, add headings, media, and shortcodes.
If you use Elementor or WPBakery, you can design rich, visually dynamic post content using drag-and-drop elements.

7. Post Options (Porto Enhancements)

the Post Options panel allows further customization of your post layout. Depending on the Porto version, this section may include:

  • Media Type (Slideshow, Grid Images, Video & Audio or Content, None)
  • External URL
  • Like Count
These options help tailor each post’s design without modifying templates manually.
8. Excerpt

An excerpt is a short summary or preview of your post.

  • Blog archive pages
  • Search results
  • Widgets like “Recent Posts”
If not manually entered, WordPress automatically generates an excerpt from the first few lines of content.
9. Porto View Options

This section contains additional Porto-specific settings to control how the post appears on your site. You can adjust:

  • Page Title visibility
  • Page SubTitle

These controls help align individual post layouts with your overall design.

10. Porto AI Engine

You can generate the descriptions and meta infos easily, correctly and in details with AI engine after input AI key in Porto > Theme Options > General > ChatGPT AI Generator page.

11. Publish Settings

Under the Publish section, you can:

  • Save Draft or Preview your post
  • Set Visibility (public, private, or password protected)
  • Schedule a publication date
  • Publish or Move to Trash
Post Data Fields

The Porto enhances WordPress’s default post type by adding flexible styling, layout control, and advanced view options — giving you everything you need to craft professional, well-structured blog content.
